Saying of the week

A family routine: pick one saying for the week, put it on the fridge, and tick it off each time someone spots it happening.

Ní neart go cur le chéileThere is strength in unity.Meaning, pronunciation and source →

What to do

  1. On the first day, read the saying and its meaning together: there is strength in unity.
  2. Put the tracker somewhere everyone sees it, like the fridge door.
  3. Each day, take a few minutes, perhaps at dinner, to talk about the saying.
  4. Tick or sticker a box when the family reads it, when someone spots it happening, and when someone does it on purpose.
  5. At the end of the week, answer the question at the bottom of the sheet together: where did we see the saying happen? Then choose next week's saying.

Questions to talk about

  • Where did we see the saying happen this week?
  • Who would you give a sticker to, and why?

You will need

  • The printed tracker
  • A pencil or stickers
  • A magnet or tape for the fridge

Make it fit

Simpler: Use only the first row, and let the youngest child put on the sticker.

More of a stretch: An older child writes a one-line example in the margin each time a box is ticked.
