Lesson plan · Teamwork
Stronger together
A hands-on session on why some things only work when people pull together, built around a short proverb about unity.
- 50 minutes
- Ages 7–9, Ages 9–12
- 3 activities
Big question: What can we do together that we cannot do alone?
The session
- 5 min
Warm up: the guess
Show the saying and play its audio from the saying page. Ask: what do you think it might be about? Collect a few guesses without saying who is right.
- 25 min
Main activity: build it
Run the tower challenge: one round alone, one round in teams. Record the heights from both rounds on the board.
Activity: Paper tower challenge (drawing frame)
- 10 min
Talk: what changed?
Reveal the meaning: there is strength in unity. Compare the heights. Ask what helped the teams and what made it harder. Link back to the first guesses.
- 10 min
Apply it
Play a short round of the situation cards. Groups decide which saying fits each situation and give a reason.
Activity: Which saying fits? (scenario cards)
To take home
Saying of the week: A family routine: pick one saying for the week, put it on the fridge, and tick it off each time someone spots it happening.
The saying
Each saying page has its meaning, source and audio to play to the group.
By the end
- Explain the saying in their own words
- Give an example of teamwork from their own life
- Notice what helped and what got in the way when working as a group
Before you start
- Scrap paper, sticky tape and a tape measure for each group
- The saying written on the board, with its meaning hidden
- Print: Paper tower challenge (drawing frame)
- Print: Which saying fits? (scenario cards)
- Print: Saying of the week (weekly tracker)
