Kim’s game with sayings

Look at the cards, close your eyes, and spot which one has gone missing.

Go raibh maith agatThank you.Meaning, pronunciation and source →

What to do

  1. Cut out the cards. For younger children, use the meaning cards. For older children, use the saying cards.
  2. Lay four cards face up. The adult reads each one aloud, and plays the saying from its page if you can.
  3. Everyone looks at the cards for thirty seconds.
  4. Everyone closes their eyes. The adult takes one card away and moves the others around.
  5. Open your eyes. Which card is missing? The first to say it, or to describe it, takes the next card away.
  6. Add a card each round until all six are on the table.

Questions to talk about

  • How did you remember the missing card?
  • Which of these do you say at home?

You will need

  • The printed card sheet, cut out
  • Scissors

Make it fit

Simpler: Use three cards and do not move the others around.

More of a stretch: Take away two cards at once, or use the saying cards and the meaning cards together.
